I’ll be signing off from the blog world for a week or so. Closing on the house in a few days, and on top of that I’m moving by myself, so there’s a lot of work ahead of me. I’ll still probably be hanging around on twitter, so I’ll see you there. Wish me luck and see you soon, with lots of pretty new pictures and updates!
Hello all of my virtual friends. It’s come time that we meet in person. For those of you who live in the Denver area, at least.
OK so it’s a totally lame flyer but if you would like to come join us for breakfast, please do! It would be even more awesome if you would let me know if you’re planning on coming so we can try to get a reservation, as that place fills up fast.
Please excuse the terrible pictures…but I have exciting news! I (well, almost) bought a house! We close next week!
I’m excited to be able to share all of the renovation work with you as well – I promise, no boring posts about hanging drywall, but more before-and-afters and fun stuff like that.
This is what it looks like with the current residents in it.
I’m going to be asking you guys for lots of opinions and advice, so get ready!
(oh, and if you want to see all of the terrible pictures, click here!)
I was working on this website yesterday and was so proud of it I wanted to show you guys. Not sure how the client feels about it but alas, I like it!
It’s a website for an after-school language enrichment program, so I thought that it would be cool to do all of the elements out of “construction paper”.
Videos like this make me wish that I had gone to film school. Either that or owner a really nice camera so I could shoot little stories like this all of the time.
I found a great series of photos on flickr that really represent life in the 1970′s.
flickr is a great resource for these kinds of photos, especially from the US National Archives. There are literally thousands of photographs representing many different eras and interests.
You can find some of the archive’s favorite photos from the set here, and the full set here.
1. Something about this pendant necklace from Tundra Dear seems like a relic from another time. I love the rich texture and finish.
2. This illustration from Valentina Design really grabs me with its exuberant colors and patterns, and the little sayings are lovely as well.
3. I don’t know why but I am absolutely obsessed with address stamps. I guess I just get bored writing my return address all the time. Get your own personalized stamp at Sugar Letter.
4. I’m not usually a big fan of clocks (I hate seeing my life literally tick away) but these lacy, plastic designs from And Furthermore are pretty fantastic.
5. These night landscapes from Amanda Friedman are amazing, not only for the originality of the subject but also for the fact that they’re not post-processed at all. Photoshop has its place but it’s no substitution for gorgeous photography.
I had the task of coming up with a nice bridal shower favor idea for the shower that I designed these invites for. The family is well-known for their delicious raspberry jam, and I personally like favors that can be consumed easily rather than ending up in a junk drawer, so I thought, why not offer them something they can enjoy in the morning?
We decided on scones with a tiny bit of family jam to take home and enjoy with the baked goods. A small food-safe plastic box made a great container that’s modern and chic. Little jam jars hold the precious preserve. I designed some labels that would go with the pink and purple theme so people knew what they were getting themselves into.
I love the way that wraparound labels look, especially on the clear box, and it shows off the polka dot pattern so well.
The back of the label is a great way to say thanks for coming!
I think that these would be fun for a bridal or a baby shower, a wedding favor, or even for a dinner party. They were super easy to make and also very personal.
