Tasty Bridal Shower Favors
I had the task of coming up with a nice bridal shower favor idea for the shower that I designed these invites for. The family is well-known for their delicious raspberry jam, and I personally like favors that can be consumed easily rather than ending up in a junk drawer, so I thought, why not offer them something they can enjoy in the morning…[more]

Carnival in Rio
I was working on an image mash-up for an event I’m potentially planning with the theme of “Brazilian Carnival” and I just wanted to share it here; the pictures are so wonderfully bright and exuberant, it’s hard to imagine that someone wouldn’t have a great time…[more]

Luau Party Details
Wow, just found this post languishing in my drafts section. Might as well update in case anyone is looking to throw a Luau soon!
Now it’s time to get into the nitty gritty of our military style Luau party…[more]

Paperless Post
I have to admit, I hate Evite. I’m sure that it serves a useful function but it’s cluttered and campy and well, seriously annoying. I’d like it to have a little more style…[more]

Low Country Boil
Looking for an event idea for a large group of people? Something outside, that gets people excited, and is lots of fun? You need to have a low country boil!
We like doing this in our family when we get large groups of people together. Everyone gets to pig out and get really messy and since everyone else is in the same boat, there’s no judgement. Plus the food is good too. Here’s the typical menu…[more]

Free Wedding
Oh, how I would have loved to take part in this! A group of very talented designers all got together to throw a “fake” wedding to practice all of their skills in one place, and then ended up making it into a free wedding that someone could win in a contest! All of the details are simply divine, and there are a lot of great ideas for anyone who’s planning a wedding or party…[more]

Easy Elegant Centerpiece
If you’re planning an event or wedding, and are looking for an interesting and different centerpiece, why not try something new? It’s a great way to cut down on costs associated with flowers, and you’ll be able to re-use the pieces over and over. The best part is that it can be done very cheaply and easily…[more]

Party Time – The Pictures
One thing that I thought was really important was to get everyone to dress up to come to the party. If you dress up, you’re much more willing to stick around and enjoy it since you went to the effort of wearing something you wouldn’t normally wear…[more]

Party Time
I’m basically throwing a party tonight for 100+ people, so I apologize if my blogging isn’t up to par. My kitchen is like a chemistry set, everything bubbling and boiling. That’s a lot of hungry mouths to feed! Since it’s an army party, I’m going with an old-school Hawaiian army theme. Lots of big band music, leis, and of course, delicious food. I’ll be sharing the details later, so stay tuned…[more]

Food Glorious Food!
I think one of the more important elements of a wedding is food, but that’s because, well, I love it. You probably won’t get much of a chance to eat it, but that’s besides the point. There’s a good amount of time during the reception when you’re so busy talking to everyone and seeing people and having a good time, you don’t think about what everyone else is doing at that moment. Aside from drinking, they’re probably eating, and that’s a great time to continue on whatever theme you’ve got going for your wedding. Aside from colors, the only “theme” that I had going was to make it as personalized as possible…[more]

Wedding Flowers
I’m a big fan of flowers, and I wanted to have tons of them at the wedding. When looking into the price of flowers, however, I was stunned! They do make a huge visual impact, but at what cost? You just end up throwing them away at the end anyway. I got around the problem somewhat by having the wedding in a family friend’s backyard. She’s a serious gardener, and their house is surrounded by 100+ year old cottonwood trees, so the setting was perfect. That took care of a lot of the floral needs, but obviously, there was still a lot of need for flowers on centerpieces, boutonnieres, etc…[more]

Wedding Inspiration Board
Originally I had planned my wedding for the summer, so I had a really nice color palette going. I had planned for a chartreusey-olivey green, with a pink coral color and lots of off-white. Had we had a wedding party, the groomsmen were going to wear tan seersucker suits with the green ties and the bridesmaids a lovely coral color. I had wanted to do it sort of 20’s/Great Gatsby style, as much as I could. However, the dates kept changing, and before you know it, the date was set for late September. Since the wedding was going to be in a family friend’s back yard, I thought that it would be nice to incorporate fall-ish colors while still being bright and cheery…[more]

It’s Wedding Season!
In addition to everyone having babies, it seems that I’m at that point in my life where everyone is getting married. I love weddings. I’m not really the romantic type, but there’s something about weddings that gets me every time. Big ones, small ones, doesn’t matter to me. If I could go to a wedding every weekend, I would! I also love planning them – it’s really neat to see all of the small details come together to make a big statement, and unlike your other parties, there’s picture evidence to remember it by! I’m going to be talking about my own wedding for the next few days…[more]
