Golden Room
I love the look of this renovated San Francisco apartment. The architectural details, the eclectic decor, and the simple color palette make this a winner in my book…[more]

In the parlour, if you please.
My lovely friend Amy was kind enough to host us at her DC abode last week for dinner. It was cold, rainy and windy and after some time trying to make it across the city in such a storm, we were glad to go inside. What I wasn’t expecting was how fantastic the house was. It was a little Sherlock-Holmes, a little Victorian Lady, a little Drag Queen, and a lot of fun…[more]

Dining Room Makeover
When I was at F.’s parent’s house last weekend his mom was complaining about her cave-like dining room. Of course, this set me scheming. Within a few hours I had her convinced that if we started at that very moment I could have the room painted and re-done by noon the next day, a timeline that I only missed by about 30 minutes (and I convinced her of this at 11pm the night before)…[more]

Modern Eclectic
It’s the best description I’ve got for the Jeffers Design Group’s work. I love how sophisticated yet playful their work is, and it has a retro sensibility without being campy or themed…[more]

Southern Style
As I wander around Savannah, I’m struck by several things. First of all, the Spanish moss is inescapable. It drapes itself over every tree and bush in sight. I’m sure that it is considered a nuisance to some people but it adds such a softness and charm. I also love how this whole area has such a style. Gorgeous neoclassical architecture combines with European streets and a distinct laid-back southern style. I got to thinking about how to translate what I was seeing into a room, and here’s what I came up with…[more]

Even More Home Inspiration
Well, we didn’t get the house, yet again. We keep getting edged out by buyers with the exact same offer, only in cash. Who are these people, and where did they get all of this money? Sigh…[more]

More House Inspiration
Here’s some more photos that I’m drooling over for if/when we get a house…[more]

We might be buying a house soon (fingers crossed!) so I’ve been stocking up on loads on inspirational photographs so that when the time comes, I’ll know exactly what color I want to paint the living room…[more]

Bookcase
One thing I’m really looking forward to if we ever buy a house is the opportunity to put in some built-in bookshelves. I love the way that floor to ceiling books look – throw in a great rug, a comfy chair and some nice lamps and I’m sure I would never leave. There’s something about it that’s just so cozy…[more]

Masculine Design
I love masculine interior design. I love the dark colors and the prevalence of wood and leather and the clean, strong lines. There’s something about it that I find really appealing and timeless. I’ve never been one for Laura Ashley-esque florals and thankfully, I think f. realizes and appreciates this. I’m totally enamored with this gentlemanly Manhattan pad designed by Ron Marvin…[more]

Outlet Wall
I love anything that takes a conventional idea and turns it on its head. This outlet wall is one of them. It might be a little geek-chic for me but I dig the concept…[more]

Dinosaur Designs
I’ve tried experimenting with resin over the years, with varying degrees of success. The people at Dinosaur Designs seem to have elevated resin to an art form. Unusual jewelry and housewares can be found at their online…[more]

Farmhouse Wares
This is a great little one-stop shop for all the shabby chic homewares you’ve been looking for. I enjoy it because it’s got that fresh from the flea market look, but it’s not terribly feminine…[more]

Framed
I am totally in love with this wallpaper. I get the feeling that I would put it up, fill it up with drawings and pictures and notes and paint, and then tear it down, piece by piece, save it, and start over…[more]

More Wallpaper
OK, I’m addicted.
I don’t even want to put it on my walls. I want to wrap it around furniture, or cover all my crappy plastic binders in it, or line the walls of the closet. I want to turn it into a fabric and wrap the entire inside of my car in it…[more]

Wallpaper From the 70′s
Holy crap.
I don’t even like wallpaper. This might have changed my mind.
Wallpaper from the 70’s is exactly what it sounds like…[more]

Creative Organization
I always envy those creative types to seem to have turned their work areas into an expression of their artwork. It’s funny, there’s a group of artists out there that seem to be really organized or OCD but I sure haven’t met any of them personally…[more]

Closet Envy
You’d never know it, but I’ve got a lot of clothes. They’re not particularly fashionable, or fancy, but I’ve been the same size since I was about 13 so I’ve held onto things for a lot of years. I usually acquire clothes that mean something to me…[more]

For the Love of Bunting
I made some bunting a while back for a project and then promptly forgot about it. Then I found this shop, and I couldn’t say no! I love the way that it looks strung over the rafters at that party, and I’m a sucker for anything outdoors that is still decorated. Stop by and pick some up for a party or just a really cool way to spend the summer. I think I’ll hang mine with all of my party lights…[more]

FLORing Ideas
I think that FLOR might just be the most genius idea ever. You can buy individual tiles to cover an entire room, or just make an area rug. And you can stick each carpet tile together without having to attach them to the floor, making it incredibly easy to rearrange your carpet or to create an easy area rug. They come in tons of different colors, styles and patterns making it easy to find something that will fit both your decor and your budget…[more]

Interior Design Lust
I’ve been seriously lusting after some navy walls lately. I tried to convince my sister to paint her bathroom walls that color because she has gold fixtures and lots of white cabinets and I thought that it would look cute and nautical. Though that’s the typical design scheme I’d associate with navy, I find myself drifting more towards a vaguely ethnic approach…[more]

Current Interior Design Obsession – Glass Mosaic Tiles
I’m really not in any position to be tiling a house at this point in my life, but it can’t stop me from dreaming! I love the custom mosaic tile maker at Oceanside Glass. Not only do they have beautiful tiles to choose from but you can completely customize your selections…[more]

Headboard Search
I’ve had the exact same bed frame since I was in the 3rd grade. Sure, it may have been a little excessive for a 3rd-grader (albeit a big one) to be sleeping in a queen size bed, but I like to think that my parents had the foresight to realize that I was going to be a tall one and get only one bed that would last me for the rest of my life. It was a typical light-wood-with-decoration deal (I think I most recently saw it on Everybody Loves Raymond – :sigh:) which suited me well as a child, as I had no taste…[more]

Midcentury Design Madness
So lately I’ve been really into midcentury architecture and design. I think part of it is that I’m so surrounded by it down here, but I really find the lines and shapes appealing. Plus it’s really interesting to look at all of the old materials that people used, what color palettes were in vogue, etc. My personal aesthetic is a midcentury design feel with modern materials and odd accents, but that’s for another time (and another house, when I can actually do what I want to it)…[more]
