Spring means babies!
I guess I’ve hit that point in my life where everyone around me is starting to have babies. Don’t get me wrong, I love babies, but I also love giving them back at the end of the day. Since I have no plans to reproduce any time soon, I get my baby fix by knitting baby blankets for all of my friends.

The first one was a pretty standard baby boy blanket – blues and greens, can’t go wrong there. I knit it using a pretty basketweave pattern in lovely organic cotton that’s pretty easy to do once you get the hang of it. The second one was a little more interesting – same pattern, but I used a bamboo yarn that’s a lot like the outside fiber of a climbing rope in the way that it’s arranged. It makes it really durable, yet really soft. I chose the colors I did because the boy was born into a family of men that wear Carhartts, and I wanted to set him on the path early.
