The Craft Begins

1.  You know that I love anything made from recycled materials, so this lamp made from wooden hangers by Organelle totally floats my boat.

2.  I’m not sure if it is a fall thing, but I’ve been really into felt lately.  This necklace transforms a staple craft material into something more sophisticated and modern.  And of course, the colors are just perfect for the changing seasons.  Find it at Gugaw.

3.  Hooray for bunting!  This little pretty is a great fall decorating accessory, and the double-sided flags mean that you can hang them just about anywhere.  I like Knitty Bitties‘ shop especially because of all the great fabric choices.

4.  It’s a little bit macabre, but I’m constantly picking up bones and stuff that I find in the woods.  I think that it’s because of the archaeology training.  If you don’t want to go searching for them yourself, you can find something like these lovely moose antlers at ReDesign Technologies.  You can also find paper clip chandeliers, which are a little different than moose antlers, but still awesome.

Have you ever looked at the patterns inside security envelopes you get in the mail?  They come in such a gorgeous variety of colors and patterns.  I know, weird to find something good about junk mail.  I thought I’d make a little art project out of all the junk mail I finally dug through.

It’s a little imperfect, but so be it.

Any paper hoarders out there have ideas for security envelope creations?  I’d love to hear them.

Just because I really like making them.

I’ve got tons of strange and appealing pictures that I’ve collected over the years for one reason or the other floating around my computer.  I decided to group them all together into cohesive wholes, in little inspiration boards.  This is the first one of (hopefully) many that I’ll be sharing probably once a week.  Please let me know if you like the idea, and what you think!

So I don’t ever watch America’s Next Top Model, partly because I can’t stand the ridiculous drama and mostly because I don’t have  TV.  However,  I love looking at the galleries of all of the modeling shoots because there are some terrific photographs there.  Most of the time they are a little too high-edge fashion and conceptual for me but it’s always interesting to look at photographer’s techniques and styles to get ideas from your own.  I was looking at this seasons, and I found a series that I find simply amazing.  Not only are the girls beautiful but the shots themselves are breathtaking.  Simple, conceptual and really well executed.  Here are a few of my favorites.

I’m just dying to recreate something like this in a shoot.  Also, I’d like to figure out how to do my hair that way!
