How sweet and unusual are these paintings from Nancy Bass?
I always find myself drawn to images of cows (there’s something about their faces that is so playful – either that or it’s the farm blood in me) but I rarely see them juxtaposed with more modern art in such a compelling way. Aside from that, her rendering of the cows themselves is simply artful, and she’s got an amazing eye for color.

I put out an ad on my local craigslist for free pet photography this week, and I’ve had a lot of interest. That would probably be one thing in an urban area, but out here in the sticks, people have different definitions of pets. Yesterday I got an email from a woman who had some horses that she wanted me to photograph. I love horses, so I would never say no to an offer like that! When I got there, I found that she didn’t just have horses – she had a whole zoo! Horses, pigs, ducks, geese, chickens, dogs, cats – the WORKS. I have to admit, I was kind of jealous. I had a great time taking pictures of all of the animals, and the best part was, there was a baby horse! He was only 2 weeks old. I’ve never been around a horse that young in my life. He just walked right over, :thump: into my leg, as if to say “pet me”. I was a little terrified of mama horse but she seemed ok with it so, no worries! He was so soft, and kind of scratchy, and I swear, he was smaller than their great dane. These are some of my favorite pictures of the day – it seems as if I’ll be headed out there again at some point, so I’m excited for that too.
