I was gone this weekend at a funeral for my step grandma.  He and my grandma had only been married a few years so I didn’t know him all that well.  However, I was tasked with creating photo boards of his life to display at the ceremony.  He lived a long, eventful life and there were tons of amazing pictures.  One really caught my attention, however, and continues to every day.

I paired it with a picture I took of him at last year’s holiday celebrations.  I was really struck by the juxtaposition, of how things change so much but really just stay the same.

What’s a family photo that sticks out in your mind?

Friday Favorites

1.  I’m not usually the hugest fan of pre-made cards but I find these little sayings from Uccello Curiouso pretty on target for the way we express feelings today.  Also, this card is adorable.

2.  I’ll admit that I’m completely obsessed with all things miniature, and these little file folders from Donovan Beeson totally fit the bill.  What a cute way to keep track of recipe cards or receipts!

3.  These lovely hand made leather accessories from Moxie and Oliver look like they would last a lifetime.  While I’m pretty fond of this wallet, there are lots of other great goodies, like belts and guitar straps.  Could make a great gift!

4.  This photograph from Aptrick has always tickled me.  It’s entitled the “Immaculate Reception”.  He’s got some other great photos in his shop – some equally cheeky and some that are just plain lovely to look at.

Sorry if I’ve vanished for a few days, but I’m moving back to Colorado.  I’ll see you soon, I promise!

Inspiration Board #10

New Discovery…Poladroid!

I know that the software has been around on macs for a while but when I checked back after a long absence it seems that they have released a windows version as well.  It may simply be the greatest computer gadget every to land on your desktop.  There’s a mini polariod camera, and when you drag and drop your photos, it spits out a “polaroid” – your original image, turned analog!  Every exposure varies and you never know what you’re going to get.  For those of us who loved polaroid but can’t find the film anymore, this is a slight relief.  You can even pick up the photos and shake them if it’s not developing fast enough for you!  My favorite feature is the ability to capture a copy of the image mid-development so if you see something unusual you don’t have to wait until it finishes to save it.

You can download the software here, and also find an awesome flickr group filled with polaroid goodness here.

Here are some of my favorites – I pretty much went through every picture on my computer yesterday playing with this.
